How long does it take to feel better? The length of time it takes to feel better will be unique to each individual, this will be discussed with you at your appointment and throughout your course of treatment. The goal of each treatment is to make changes that will build stability in the body over time and encourage the body’s own ability to self-heal and self-regulate.
How often do I need to come for an appointment? All manual osteopathic treatments are you uniquely tailored to YOU and YOUR specific needs. This is also the case when it comes to follow up treatments -- they are completely dependent on what that patient requires. Follow up treatment timing can be discussed at the end of your initial assessment.
What is osteopathy?Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that utilizes the body's natural ability to self-heal and self-regulate. The body is treated as a dynamic unit of function, and the treatment is aimed at finding the root cause of the pain or discomfort, as opposed to treating the symptoms. Osteopathy is completely about anatomy and physiology of the human body and how the two are interrelated. Since these are the guiding principles of Osteopathy, every treatment is therefore uniquely tailored to the patient.
Is Osteopathy covered by my health insurance plan?Several insurance and extended health care companies recognize osteopathic services. Lauren is a professional member in good standing with Osteopathy Canada (OSTCAN) and a current member of the Ontario Osteopathic Association (OOA) and Canadian Institute of Classical Osteopathy. Contact your insurance provider to see if you are covered. Receipts are provided after each appointment.
